A week ago our ecology and biodiversity expert completed a course revolving around the interesting topic of eDNA. Every creature that swims in the water or crawls through the mud leaves a trail of DNA, and this is called environmental DNA (eDNA). The DNA can be collected and then analyzed, this way we can get an accurate picture of which species are present in the environment. This technique can also be used to search for hard-to-find species, such as the mud crawler.
