Consultancy and certification bureau Leafteasers has carried out an advisory role for the municipality of Maastricht, in relation to the tender procedure and development of a solar park on the Lanakerveld location in Limburg. Our role has been to work with the municipality to form a vision for the process and outcome of this solar park development, which can be guiding advise within its tender process.
The municipality wishes to develop a solar park on the Lanakerveld plot, whereby backlash from the local community could be minimised and the solar park would represent a welcomed development in the local area. They also have interest in environmental remediation on the plot, including the improvement of water drainage into the water table, and minimised surface flow which disturbs transport routes adjacent to the park.
We presented the municipality of Maastricht with the NISP management tool and certification, as a substantiation of this vision. NISP stands for Nature Inclusive Solar Park. NISP is a scheme that has been developed between the certification organisation Kiwa and Leafteasers, with special assistance from Wageningen University Research, Rabobank and Ernst and Young.
